About us:

Elixirgen Scientific, Inc., launched in 2016, is a Baltimore-based biotechnology company focusing on developing a unique cell differentiation technology associated with pluripotent stem cells. Our mission is to make stem cell innovation accessible to everyone. This is because currently available techniques involving the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells have been built upon cost and skill demanding long-term culture. To address this problem, we are now providing reagents, kits, cryopreserved cells and services at an affordable price. Thus, our products make it feasible for everyone with basic cell culture experience to handle specialized cells in their studies, leading to accelerating the progress in their research and so making their laboratory work more efficient.

Elixirgen Scientific is located at the Science and Technology Park of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, an ideal research environment that allows our lab personnel to access state-of-the-art facilities.

Job Status:

Non-Exempt Full Time

Salary:

- Depending on their experience and education level

Objective:

- Participate in wet lab work at Elixirgen Scientific, Inc.

Supervision:

- This position will be supervised by a senior scientist.

Work environment:

- This position works in a laboratory that contains potent, carcinogenic, volatile, and poisonous chemicals. Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment when handling these materials.

- Core working hours of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; No overtime expected.

Essential Job Functions:

- Design and conduct experiments

- Record, analyze and present data

- Maintain mammalian cell cultures

- Provide colleagues with knowledge in internal meetings

- Comply with safety policies

- Prepare reports with data, findings, and future plans

- Perform general clerical duties

Physical demands:

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.

Travel:

Occasional travel is expected to attend a scientific meeting.

Required Education and Experience:

- Recent graduates with Ph.D. in cell biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related scientific field are preferably considered.

- Master of Science degree holders are encouraged to apply if they have at least three years of industry experience in related fields.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

- Hands-on experience in aseptic technique, media preparation and maintenance of mammalian cell cultures.

- Hands-on experience in differentiating pluripotent stem cells into specialized cells is preferred.

- Familiarity with cell and molecular biological techniques such as qPCR, Immunostaining, High-content screening, electrophysiological assays, ELISA and/or FACS will be favorably considered.

- A working knowledge of biological laboratory safety precautions and protocols for safe handling and disposal of hazardous agents and reagents, chemicals, and materials.

- Excellent writing, recordkeeping, communication and mathematical skills.

- Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and computer software skills.

- Must be a team player and able to thrive in fast paced environments.
