Job Description

Job responsibilities:
  • Driving relevant analyses to aid Business Heads/Managers in strategic decision making, e.g.,
    • Analysis of profitability factors for the Markets business across revenues (including reconciliation between Sales and Trading views), expenses, balance sheet, capital and financial resource constraints
    • In-depth competitor analysis
    • Analyses for the Business Head prior to external events (e.g., Investor Day, analyst meetings)
  • Driving the quarterly earnings process for Markets
    • Managing the front to back delivery of all earnings materials for Markets
    • Driving analyses and explains of key factors for the quarter
    • Liaising with Business Managers, Controllers or other Finance contacts to prepare responses for potential analyst queries on Markets
  • Leading the Recovery and Resolution (R&R) appendix generation and sign-off process for Markets
    • Working with central R&R teams to prepare Markets data input into annual/bi-annual US and International R&R programs
    • Running the quarterly liquidity reserve update for the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), including calculation of reserves and managing the sign-off and review process
    • Engaging proactively in the development/enhancement of R&R processes across R&R teams, Business Manager (BMs) and Controllers
  • Driving global efforts on business performance reporting and communication
    • Coordinate weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting on business performance including keeping a schedule of recurring meetings and prepping materials in advance
    • Ensure consistent delivery of Management Information System (MIS)
    • Developing materials for business communications
    • Implementing controls and best practices to ensure accurate financial reporting
    • Coordination, leadership and development of a global team of on-shore and off-shore resources

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

You must be a highly-motivated and execution focused self-starter and able to shift focus of task with relative ease while remaining flexible in balancing workload in accordance with changing priorities. You need to be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • 6+ years of business and financial management experience
  • Ability to work independently to produce high quality and accurate work product
  • Excellent problem solving skills, sharp analytical/quantitative skills and ability to analyze large data sets and draw conclusions, with an eye for detail but focused on the 'big picture'
  • Strong relationship building with proven experience of collaborating with and influencing others across functions and product and locations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience presenting to senior Finance and Business leads
  • Planning & Analysis or Product Control experience
  • Ability to manage the priorities, deliverables and professional development of a global team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Business Management/Business Control/Legal Entity Controller experience
  • Quantitative educational background (Finance, Economics, Math, etc.)
  • Solid product knowledge of the key Equities businesses
  • Accounting qualification/experience
  • Knowledge of JPM reporting systems - Paragon, Firmwide Data Warehouse (FDW), Cognos
