Job Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for the management, leadership, and development of the production team and all design inputs. Optimize production assets and flow for maximum productivity with on-time delivery and successful attainment of revenue and quality targets. They will develop processes that maximize employee engagement, safety, quality, productivity, on time delivery and product profitability through continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. Provide for increased capacity as directed by the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe work environment and practices for production associates
- Plan, organize, direct, and optimize day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations and to meet 100% on-time delivery to committed ship dates
- Increase production capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs and maintaining safety and quality standards
- Manage labor utilization to insure proper use of labor resources versus projected requirements of the schedule
- Insure accurate metric reporting for all relevant production goals.
- Staff and train department supervisors to maintain company standards and policies.
- Manage scrap rates by department and implement corrective actions as required to maintain product quality targets.
- Be responsible for employee safety, production output, product quality and on-time shipping
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Develop cost controls to consistently meet established budget and financial plans
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
- Foster collaborative relationships with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize key production indicators, including those for safety, quality, delivery, employee engagement and cost
- Collect and analyze data to find places of waste and drive formal plant continuous improvement processes - demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of team performance
- Be a force for positive change and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment
Qualifications, Skills
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University in Engineering, Business Administration, or related technical field
- 10+ years of manufacturing management experience within a multifaceted, vertically integrated job shop environment.
- Exceptional safety leadership skills
- Deep understanding of production flow and scheduling requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and critical thinking ability
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
