Under general supervision of a Company Officer or Senior Firefighter, this position responds to emergency scenes and performs firefighting and advanced life support emergency medical assistance duties. An employee in this position is responsible to perform job duties in an accurate manner in order to protect the health and safety of the citizens and members of the Fire Department.
This is an IAFF, Local 3472 position.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and lifting of persons or objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds, and moving in areas of difficult or dangerous access. Also requires physical mobility, dexterity, full range of motion and normal sensory abilities including vision, hearing, touch and smell. Operates emergency vehicles in all weather and lighting conditions required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered while performing essential functions of this job classification. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat, fire, risk of electrical shock, hazardous materials and risk of vibration. The work environment involves extremely high risks with exposure to potentially life threatening situations or unusual environmental stress requiring a full range of safety and other precautions.

Pension - 15% of employees salary contributed to defined compensation (401a) plan; vested after 5 years

Vacation - 80 hours to a maximum of 200 hours annually as accrued based on tenure (Prevention/Administration); 120 hours to a maximum of 336 hours annually as accrued based on tenure (Suppression)
Annual Leave - 104 hours annually (Prevention/Administration); 144 hours annually (Suppression)
Holidays - 12 days annually (Prevention/Administration); $4500 paid annually (Suppression)
