Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Fitness and Movement Writer to join our news organization within the Health and Wellness Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and producing high-quality fitness stories, plus evergreen and seasonally topical health content specifically around fitness.
Responsibilities:
Write fitness news stories and evergreen fitness content that is engaging, accurate, informative, and rapid.
Publish and promote content on social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Monitor news wires, social media, and other sources to identify high-impact stories and trends that are relevant to our audience.
Pitch story ideas and work with other health and wellness editors and other members of the editorial team to develop new angles and angles to existing stories.
Ensure that all content is optimized for SEO and social media.
Collaborate with other departments, such as design and development, to ensure that all content is visually appealing, user-friendly, and optimized for different platforms.
Stay up to date on health and wellness developments and fitness trends as they surface on social media and through other channels including scientific/academic journals.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, public health, or a related field.
Personal trainer certification (ACE, NASM, etc) is a plus.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a reporter, content curator, or a related role within a news organization or other fast-paced digital organization.
Familiarity with covering all types of fitness and movement topics, including workout trends, exercise explainers, outdoor activities, and more.
Ability to cover topics in a way that is relatable, empathetic and scientifically accurate.
Strong writing skills and the ability to produce accurate, engaging, and informative fitness and health stories.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong news judgment and the ability to identify stories and trends that are relevant to our audience.
Knowledge of AP style and other editorial guidelines.
Familiarity with different CMS and editorial tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
**Salary Requirements: $85,000-$110,000**
