These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to honorably discharged veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.

As an on-call Licensed Practical Nurse 4, you'll provide direct resident care to vulnerable veterans in need of skilled nursing care. This includes monitoring and recording all aspects of care, passing medications, dressing changes and treatment, etc.

Duties

Some of what you'll be doing includes:


  • Serving as the charge nurse for your assigned area; may act as a back-up supervisor in absence of an RN.
  • Updating and maintaining MDS documentation.
  • Evaluating, preparing and revising treatment plans for individual residents based on personal observations and recommendations of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and/or other nurses.
  • Passing medications, administering, monitoring and recording treatments and assessing resident conditions.
  • Suctioning patients, administering oxygen, catheterization, irrigation; administering IV and subcutaneous sites, colostomy and trach care, feeding tubes and pumps and other treatments as ordered.
  • Assisting with routine rehabilitative and maintenance care.
  • Assisting residents with positioning, transferring and ambulation.
  • Monitoring and keeping a safe environment, including preventative infection control.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current LPN license from the State of Washington.
  • Two years’ experience as an LPN.
  • Capable of lifting up to 60 lbs. using proper techniques, capable of reaching for activities such as repositioning or to gain access to supplies, and is capable of pushing or pulling with sufficient strength.
Desired:
  • Long Term Care experience.
