OVERVIEW:

The Pharmacy Returns Technician ensures that company standards are maintained, and product integrity is preserved while processing returned prescriptions under the pharmacist's supervision.


Responsibilities:

  • Process customer returns
  • File and save daily credit reports
  • Sort based on Drug type and carefully place back in stock for re-sale (if applicable)
  • Pop, cut and/or deblister medications for destruction (if applicable)
  • Process expired medication and make inventory adjustments in computer
  • Seal containers of discarded medications and/or expired medications in preparation for haul away
  • Prepare finished prescription product and proper labeling, including cautionary and auxiliary labels, as well as other light warehouse duties
  • Package materials and products manually
  • Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications
  • Label and stock as needed during low volume times
  • Replenish stock and consumables
  • Knowledge of Data Entry and/or IV experience is a plus
  • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
  • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code
  • Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expected
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice
  • One-year pharmacy experience required (long-term care preferred)
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Able to work at a moderate speed
  • Able to work during inclement weather
  • Reliable
  • Good organization/Attention to detail
  • Analytical/Problem solver
  • Basic math skills
  • Able to physically perform light lifting
  • Must be able to work various shifts and days


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittently
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed
  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY

We provide qualifying full-time employees with 23 PTO (Paid Time Off) days annually. PTO is used for holidays, vacation, sick leave, and personal leave.


Please note we are a long-term care pharmacy open 24-hours, 7 days a week. And schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
