ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our Product Management Documentation team. OneStream contains complex OLAP, multi-dimensional, multi-server, multi-threading, web, and SQL technologies and is specifically designed to solve problems for the Office of the CFO at large corporations. In this position, you will review new features and solutions with our Product Management, Development, and QA teams to create product documentation and learning materials including user reference guides, design guides, installation manuals, help documents, code snippets, and videos. This position requires effective planning, scheduling, research, and writing skills including proper formatting. Travel requirements for this position are quite minimal, typically once per quarter.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with Development, Quality Assurance, and Product Management teams to understand OneStream software features to translate them into user documentation.
• Produce documentation which conveys complex technical ideas to a potentially non-technical audience.
• Ensure all documentation follows proper publishing and grammar standards.
• Produce release notes, installation instructions, upgrade guides, and help documentation for major releases.
• Create and edit videos for release launches and inclusion in documentation.

QUALITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone who has been around web-based, multi-tiered systems. You do not need to be an expert in the software development lifecycle, financial reporting & budgeting systems, databases, programming languages, APIs and the like. However, previous exposure is expected to be successful in this realm.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Formal Education and Certification

• BA/BS Degree in English, Technical Communications, Technical Writing, Communications, or Journalism. Exposure to Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance is a plus.

Knowledge and Experience

• 4+ years of relevant experience, such as technical writing, product documentation, or online publishing including experience with writing technical customer-facing materials in an enterprise software environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience creating and updating documentation.
• Skilled using Office 365, Madcap Flare, Camtasia or other industry-leading tools to develop and manage content.
• Familiarity with accounting terms and systems.
• Experience with CPM domain: Financial modeling, data integration, consolidation, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
• Experience with CPM applications is a bonus, such as:
  • OneStream
  • Oracle Hyperion
  • SAP
  • Other CPM solutions
• Understanding of industry standards and best practices such as single sourcing, XML, and content management. Experience in multi-language documentation development a plus.
• Experience working in an Agile development process a plus.
• Excellent listening, verbal, public speaking and written communication skills.
