The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Quality Assurance (DQA), Bureau of Assisted Living (BAL) is recruiting for a Health Services Specialist - Surveyor. DQA is responsible for protecting and promoting the health, safety, and welfare of residents living in care and treatment facilities and/or receiving mental health and substance use services.

You will be required to telework and must be able to establish a secure home office. This position requires approximately 50% travel. Required travel will be throughout all counties in Wisconsin, with a primary focus on 13 counties in the Central and Northeastern regions of Wisconsin (Brown, Door, Florence, Forest, Kewaunee, Langlade, Manitowoc, Marinette, Marathon, Menominee, Oconto, Shawano, Sheboygan).This position is part of the Behavioral Health Certification Section (BHCS) in BAL and can be based out of any of our four regional offices (located in Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee or Eau Claire). Occasional overnight stays and weekend and evening hours may be required during some surveys.

As the BHCS Health Services Specialist-Surveyor, you will be responsible for evaluating, certifying, and monitoring a wide variety of mental health and substance use programs such as Outpatient Integrated Behavioral Health Treatment Services, Opioid Treatment Programs, Intoxicated Driver Services, and Mental Health Outpatient Clinics to name a few. You will ensure compliance with standards and rules in areas such as:

The starting salary is between $28.46 to $33.00 per hour (approximately $59,100 to $68,600 per year), depending on experience, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Health Services Specialist and is in pay schedule and range 12/63.
