Job Description
As the Engineering Supervisor, you will be conducting all development and product validation testing for powertrain components. The function of the Supervisor is to produce thorough, accurate test information on new or modified products. You will be scheduling and overseeing the work of Lab technicians who carry out the testing. This includes designing, setting up, and carrying out tests, and resolving problems encountered during testing.
- Plans and directs testing to ensure conformance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
- Supervises the work of technicians carrying out the required tests.
- Coordinates testing with support groups such as emissions, instrumentation, and facilities.
- Provides technical direction to technicians, and checks their work to ensure conformance to objectives and schedules.
- Schedules technician overtime as required, and ensures adherence to the overtime rules governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Performs administrative duties related to technician time and attendance tracking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Candidate must have an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience. A minimum 5 years of engine testing is required.
- Candidate must have a minimum 5 years of experience supervising union employees.
- Candidate should demonstrate strong leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparation and delivery of presentations.
- Experience in team environment, knowledge of engine and component testing, and experience with Detroit and Daimler systems will all be considered a plus.
