Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Coordinator for Student Government Association Finances primary responsibility is supporting all aspects for the Student Government Association funding process. This position provides advice, support, and mentorship to the Finance, Audit, and Student Group committees of the Student Government Association (SGA), as well as the SGA Treasurer, manages the SGA budget of approximately $350,000, processes SGA financial transactions, books and processes SGA travel, assists approximately 200 student organizations with the budget process and provides administrative support to student organizations utilizing applying for SGA funding.

Specifically, this position will be:
  • Working with the Finance Committee, Audit Committee, and Student Group Committee to build bridges with organizations and the SGA as well as between organizations to ensure that they feel welcome, included in, and knowledgeable about the funding process; meeting regularly with the SGA CFO/VP of Finance, Audit Chair, Student Groups Director, and SGA Treasurer
  • Attending the Finance Committee deliberations, appeals, training workshops and weekly meetings; working with the Vice President of Finance to create comprehensive training for Finance Committee members as well as partnering with relevant university departments that provide support to student groups to reduce bias in the allocation process; developing and managing the SGA budget and annual budgeting process; providing continuous support of the SGA budget assessment process and implementing or changing policies/processes in response to findings
  • Overseeing the student fee allocation process in coordination with the SGA CFO/VP of Finance; overseeing the Club Sports budget allocation process in coordination with the SGA CFO/VP of Finance and RecWell staff
  • Managing the student group inventory process and supervise the student Inventory manage(s); providing event support to other Activities units and the greater Stamp department; and completing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum

Experience:
2 years full time experience is required.

Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field
  • Two years’ full-time experience advising and/or providing support to student organizations is preferred
  • Ability to direct and supervise others and incorporate student development theories and technology in the advisement and provision of services to student organizations is preferred Additionally, strong accounting and financial management skills and experience managing/overseeing/supporting large budgets is a benefit.

UMD offers great retirement, leave, and other benefits! Pay range is $61,500-$65,500, commensurate with experience.
