_ General Summary_

Provides direct care to people supported implementing and supporting individual support and behavior management plans, respects, and understands the rights of people supported, ensures safety, recognizes individual needs and encourages independence to people supported with developmental disabilities and/or other related disorders.

_ Essential job responsibilities _

  • Assists people supported with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and transferring while encouraging people supported to perform as much self-care as possible.
  • Fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates.
  • Drives people supported to daily appointments, work, day programs, recreation events and stores as needed.
  • Maintains records in accordance with company policy and procedures. This includes documentation related to service delivery, progress notes, change in health and emotional condition or other significant events.
  • Completes all documentation accurately and timely.
  • Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment.
  • May assist people supported with medication or assists or supervises people supported who self-administer medication. Completes medication records and counts.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the people supported. Performs general housekeeping and teaches/supports client to perform housekeeping.
  • Understands and follows proper physical safety and emergency protocols.
  • Encouraging self-help activities.
  • Reporting changes in client's condition or family situation to the office.
  • Performing home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning.
  • Planning meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up.
  • Accompanying client to scheduled appointments.
  • Understands and utilizes adaptive equipment including wheelchairs and belts/locks, Hoyer lifts, etc. and be able to securely load and unload clients.
  • Completes all trainings including new hire, on the job and annual trainings within the designated timeframe.
  • Other duties as assigned.

_ qualifications/education_
Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Exceptions to educational requirements must comply with state law and regulations.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Experience providing services and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, or related disorders preferred.
  • Must meet all agency requirements for pre- employment as required by ResCare and/or State regulations.

License/Certification:

  • Driver’s license from state of residence with a satisfactory driving record as defined by BrightSpring’s vehicle policy and/or liability insurance carrier (as applicable per program requirements)

_ KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES _

  • Ability to work in a group home, home-like settings
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
  • Must have the ability to use a computer utilizing company documentation systems.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
  • Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information.
  • Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements
  • Medication Administration as required by state/program requirements

Physical demands:

· Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while lifting up to 75 pounds, must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull reach, sit, and walk for periods of time. Must have fine vision, sustained vision, and peripheral vision. Must possess sufficient eye/hand coordination to operate office, adaptive, and household equipment.

Work environment:

· Light and ventilation as found in a typical home or office setting. Hazards may exist if the employee fails to use proper body mechanics when lifting or transporting an individual or item, if vehicles are not operated safely, or if proper techniques are not used when intervening with individuals. The possibility of blood borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed.

Pay: From $17.60 per hour
