Morgan Stanley Bank N.A. seeks an Associate, Risk Management in New York, New York
Perform credit analysis and research of equity and debt instruments, including private equity funds, real state collateralized loans, middle market companies, small business investment corporations, nonprofit organizations, bonds, project developments financed with tax credits and public private partnerships, and other alternative investments. Prepare underwriting models and approval memos for current and prospective loans and investments and present for approval to various committees. Establish ratings, structure and document transactions, monitor the risk profile of the portfolio. Report to senior management on credit issues and risk ratings of equity and debt portfolios. Keep abreast of overall trends and best practices in real estate, corporations and other alternative debt and equity investments. Review industry periodicals, bank portfolios, data and other materials/statistics to build and maintain current knowledge of factors that impact bank lending and investment opportunities. Conduct outreach to Bank partners, fund managers, clients and other parties for potential business relationship building. Work with credit and business teams to handle cross product analysis.
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Business, or related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years of experience as an Associate, Assistant Vice President, or related occupation in the financial services field. Requires five (5) years of experience with: commercial real estate investment and financing or community development finance; and personal financial statement analysis. Requires three (3) years of experience with: private equity investment, real estate lending, and tax credit finance; company financial statement analysis; real estate financial analysis; DCF valuation; using Moody’s and S&P Global for industry research and risk rating calculation; using REIS and Costar for real estate research; using PitchBook for company research; using VBA for financial analysis; updating bank credit policies related to new approvals, monitoring procedures, and risk rating adjustments; conducting asset management processes including making new fund investments and allocating assets into different products; public and private equity and debt instruments including low-income housing tax credit, new markets tax credits, historic tax credits, social impact bonds, and community development financial institutions; and working with third-party accounting, legal consultants, project development consultants, and advisors. Requires two (2) years of experience with: using Tableau for data analysis and presentation.
Expected base pay rate for the role will be $157,000 to $157,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
