Aggie Animal Dental Center is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician (Registered Veterinary Technician preferred) to help us improve the lives of pets and the people who love them. Although we only work on the oral cavity and maxillofacial regions, every day is different at AADC. In addition to dental cleanings and extractions, we perform root canal treatments, repair jaw fractures, place metal crowns, and perform oral oncologic surgery. We also regularly perform advanced dental procedures at the Oakland and San Francisco Zoos. We are Fear-Free Certified and will support you in becoming Fear-Free Certified as well. Specific experience in dentistry is not required; we are looking for a friendly and fun individual who can confidently do the following:

Calculate dosages and administer medications IV, IM, SC

Place IV catheters

Collect and prepare blood samples

Monitor anesthesia

Clean, wrap and sterilize surgical instruments

Record information in electronic medical records; write SOAPs, enter charges, fill prescriptions

Able to lift and compassionately restrain patients ranging from 2 lbs to 180 lbs (with assistance)

Check in patients, discuss findings and discharge instructions with clients in a warm, professional manner

Self-motivated and detail-oriented, but easy going

Personable, with an inclusive and collegial attitude

Excellent client communication skills: professional yet warm interactions with clients

Competence with computers; we are a near-paperless practice

Passionate about helping animals

Our current team:

Two board-certified veterinary specialists (1 full-time dentist, 1 part-time anesthesiologist)

A resident in their 2nd year of training to become a dental specialist

Two registered veterinary technicians (RVT) and one technician-in-training

Two client service representatives

Job type: Full-time (~36 hours per week), Monday through Thursday; no nights or weekends

Pay: $27.00 - $37.00 per hour
