Job Description
Premier Tool has an immediate need for a temporary contracted Quality Engineer to assist them at their manufacturing plant in Peosta, IA. The length of time is yet to be determined and they would like the candidate to work onsite.
Position Title: Quality Engineer

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Position summary:
Responsible for documenting and maintaining corrective/preventive actions, PPAP documentation, and participate
in continuous improvement activities.
Essential Functions:
- Participate in APQP and document action items. Provide timely, accurate updates.
- Create inspection plans on electronic documents and ensure they align with PPAP documents.
- Proofread and approve instructions. Ensure everything is current and up to date including Past Problems.
- Ensure products are acceptable to customer standards.
- Support building effective systems that are focused on prevention of errors.
- Analyze failure, complete corrective actions and respond to customer and internal complaints.
- Create and maintain PPAP documentation, including annual PPAP's, and other customer requirements like REACH and RoHS.
- Cooperate with Industrial Engineer, Tool Room, and Production to ensure new product launches are implemented effectively.
- Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the Quality Management System.
- Complete, update, and maintain corrective actions.
- Visit customers and suppliers to address issues, approve processes, and perform audits.
- Issue rejections to suppliers.
- Follow through with quality alerts and containments through completion.
- Track hold area and scrap. Create scrap reports.
- Be a backup for documentation specialist. Capture critical information and pictures so it can turned into instructions later.
- Substitute for the Quality Manager when they're not available.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining Company certifications.
- Ensure the Production and Tool Room departments are being supported by Quality Assurance.
- Address customer issues both internally and externally.
- Approve parts and processes at suppliers.
- Implement and participate in Early Production Containments and sorts.
- Address action items from management review, production meeting, and safety meetings.
- Follow NPPCN’s through to completion. Send notices to departments that are not completing their part.
Skills:
- Proficiency in statistical process control disciplines.
- Ability to use quality related SPC and Gage R&R software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proficiency in lean principles.
- Exhibit strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in customer and internal communication, relationship building and maintenance.
- Proficiency in various customer Production Part Approval Processes.

Experience and Education:
- High School diploma
- Minimum two year degree or 3-5 years in a Quality Engineer or closely related position.
