Purchasing Agent

NOTE: This position will purchase production materials and finished products to be shipped directly to the jobsite (versus to a warehouse). The Purchasing Agent will assist with sourcing suppliers based on price, availability, necessity, quality, and logistical expenses. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the procurement of a wide variety of production materials, finished products, supplies, and services. Duties include price evaluations, market assessments, product ordering, record keeping and tracking of inbound orders and deliverables. Tasks may include (but are not limited to):
- Coordinating with shipping agencies and sellers to ensure timely deliveries
- Assessing vendors and their offerings with in-person visits, interviews, and analysis to assess their quality
- Consulting with project teams about their needs and desired purchases
- Ensuring that project and department goals are met while adhering to approved budgets
- Negotiating sale agreements and supply contracts
- Building and maintaining good relationships with suppliers and distributors
- Studying market trends and identifying risks when sourcing
- Resolving vendor disputes and commodity related issues
- Developing strategy for achieving annual savings goal
- Authorizing payments and managing purchasing expenses with meticulous record-keeping
- Timely and accurate preparation of all documentation
3+ years of relevant purchasing/procurement experience and:
- High School Diploma REQUIRED (advanced degree or technical training PREFERRED)
- Construction industry procurement experience PREFERRED
- Negotiation and business relations skills
- Accounting acumen
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
- Excellent time management/deadline management skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint)
- Willingness to learn new technical systems as needed
- Reliable transportation and drivers license in good standing
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Salary 60-80k (based on experience)
