Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Location: North Providence, RI
Job Summary:
The Laboratory/Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens and performing laboratory tests. The Laboratory/Phlebotomist will also maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and process patient specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples
- Perform laboratory tests, including chemistry, haematology, and microbiology tests
- Ensure that all specimens are properly labelled and stored
- Maintain accurate records of patient information and test results
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Prepare and analyse specimens for laboratory testing
- Communicate with healthcare providers and patients regarding laboratory test results
- Assist with quality control and quality assurance activities
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification as a phlebotomist
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instruments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach to perform laboratory tasks
