Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta is a member of the Dignity Health system of health care providers and is a not-for-profit medical facility. We are designated as a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital and are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations. Responsibilities

Position Summary:
The Pharmacist performs pharmacy-related work with administrative direction. The Pharmacist fills inpatient medication orders outpatient prescriptions for retired employees and Hospice and discharge medications on request by social services/financial counselor. Prepares discharge information sheets with drug information and calls/faxes discharge medications to patients pharmacy. Maintain patient profiles on all inpatient and outpatient prescriptions. Fill and/or check unit dose carts on a daily basis subsequent to delivering to nursing areas. Prepare and/or check IV solutions as required by daily workload. Maintain a workable drug inventory according to maximum and minimum inventory levels in conjunction with pharmacy formulary. Provide drug information to staff and patients as requested. Work closely with nursing staff to provide safe and effective dissemination of medications to patients. Assists in monthly medication outdate checks. May assist or conduct audits and reviews as necessary by the Pharmacy Manager. Provide clinical services in the area of pharmacokinetic dosing and patient education as directed by the Pharmacy Director. This position may take after-hours calls from nursing staff as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be have a Doctorate in Pharmacy - new grad OK
  • Training sufficient to maintain license and remain current in career field
  • Possess clinical pharmacy knowledge; competent in sterile IV admixture; capable of handling budget control of inventory and patient charges
  • Possess a good sense of priorities and judgment
  • Computer skills required
  • Current Registered Pharmacist license from the California State Board of Pharmacy
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous hospital experience as a staff pharmacist is preferred

Pay Range
$59.67 - $86.52 /hour
