Stoney & Walker is actively seeking a SUPERSTAR legal assistant to join our busy and growing Columbia office.

Working in tandem with the attorney(s), the work you do here will matter and impact the lives of our clients.
The ideal candidate is an energetic person with initiative and the willingness to take charge of case management. As a legal assistant, you will provide support services to the attorney(s) in the practice areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, civil litigation, and criminal defense. Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Reviewing, drafting, filing, and scanning legal documents and correspondence.
- Preparing, organizing, storing, and retrieving case files.
- Gathering and analyzing client intake information and documentation such as medical records, bills, liens, etc.
- Assembling demand and settlement packets.
- Frequent communication with attorneys and clients.
- Interviewing clients and witnesses and preparing summaries of their statements.
- Preparation of materials for hearings, depositions, mediation, and trials.
- Communicating courteously and effectively with insurance adjusters, court staff, medical personnel and other professionals.
- Performing office administrative tasks and managing the attorney's calendar.
- Providing excellent customer service and client contact.
- Working independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Adhering to the Firm's Code of Ethics and company policies.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Adobe and Google Drive.
- Experience with online technology/software, specifically case management software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Must be a self-starter and highly motivated
- Strong work ethic and able to perform under pressure.
- Must be able to work independently and have high-stress tolerance
- Achievement-oriented and enjoy taking on challenges.
- Office administration experience.
- Notary Public.
- E-file experience preferred.
- At least one (1) year experience in the legal field, but two (2) years of experience in the field as a paralegal or as a legal assistant is preferred.
- Associates degree, but Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s License in good standing.
- Reliable transportation
- Must complete a criminal background check.
Job Type: Full-time, in-office position
Work Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
Compensation: Salary range is $35,000 - $50,000.00. Benefits package available after completion of 90-day probationary period.
