The Goal Planning Operations Senior Consultant is a key member of the Goal Management Team within UnitedHealthcare Government Programs Sales & Distribution. The role reports to the Associate Director of Sales Operations who oversees end-to-end processes as they pertain to goal planning & execution. As an Operations Senior Consultant, you will work closely with Sales Leadership, Finance, Compensation Design & Commissions, IT, as well as several other key cross-functional areas to plan and execute goal-setting processes and related activities. This role requires a well-rounded individual who has the demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-growth, fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand Sales Incentive Plans and be able to set and apply goals based on how incentives are paid
  • Calculate and administer sales and membership goals for any relevant UHC products & territories, supported by Government Programs (ex. MA, Med Supp, PDP, IFP, etc.)
  • Calculate and administer individual Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) goals
  • Work closely with Finance to obtain & understand on and off-cycle forecasts for sales adds, growth and net membership
  • Rapidly develop deep understanding of internal sales territories and sales management hierarchies and provide consult to sales leadership as needed
  • Oversee end-to-end processes to ensure territory and salesperson changes are properly recorded and updated in appropriate systems
  • Monitor new hire, termination and leave of absence data and update internal systems accordingly
  • Establish and/or maintain quality analysis processes to ensure goals are set accurately
  • Coordinate goal communications
  • Support cross-functional meetings as required
  • Develop detailed documentation of processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Help develop and execute equitable goal management processes and practices, ensuring goals are aligned with the sales opportunity
  • Leverage experience to provide direction and consult to sales teams and answer questions as needed
  • Quickly learn and leverage internal Goal Planning Application (GPA) system
  • Help support other projects as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of process improvement and process documentation experience
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis
  • Experience with Microsoft Access
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (V-look-ups, formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to conceptualize process steps related to ambiguous/complicated procedures to provide concise consults and documentation
  • Proven ability to quickly grasp complex processes and workstreams
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Ability to travel up to 10% within the US


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of business analysis experience in a business operations environment
  • Sales goal and/or commission administration experience
  • Sales operations experience in a health care environment
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of health insurance products (i.e. Medicare Advantage, Part D, Med Supp, Affordable Care Act, etc.)

  • Solid attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality & accurate work
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks with conflicting priorities and quickly flex to meet business needs
  • Able to proactively identify barriers and suggest solutions that address the root cause of a problem
  • Able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines with minimal direction
  • Willingness to experiment with new processes and persevere through challenges
  • Experience in building high trust relationships

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
