Job Summary:

Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values.
Performs secretarial and clerical duties, assists in managing daily work flow including functioning as a focal communication source. Be a liaison between our assessment offices, outlying facilities, and referral sources in order to coordinate assessment scheduling and handle the flow of the assessment process.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates knowledge of admission and exclusionary criteria according to the current EMTALA policy for child, adolescent, adult and geriatric inpatient programs.
  • To be liaison between our assessment office and outlying facilities to coordinate assessment scheduling and manage the flow of the assessment process.
  • To field referral calls to the appropriate assessment location.
  • Handles psychiatric placement for all ages when a bed is unavailable at Decatur Morgan West and makes continuous efforts to find placement at an alternate facility.
  • Completes inpatient registration process accurately verifying correct information input prior to completion.
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of all records, files, messages and personnel
  • Maintains, orders and stock sufficient clerical and supplies for all units and assessment office.
  • Receives requests from patients and families, making referral to appropriate personnel, post verification of patient ID number.
  • Answers phone promptly and does not leave desk unattended.
  • Ensures indicated flow of accurate communication and information.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate patient census.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize based on acuity of work flow.
  • Participates in hospital operations during times of high census, disasters, and other emergency events.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures and demonstrates practices that ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, co-workers and self.
  • CPR certification.
  • MOAB/CPI certification.

Education:
High School Graduate

Experience:
Secretary/Clerical experience desirable
Health care experience desirable
