Maintenance Assistant
Maintenance Assistant Overview: Maintain building and grounds.
Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities:
- Carry out the preventive maintenance program.
- Report problems with the interiors or exteriors of the buildings and any equipment
- Identify needed supplies to REPORT TO and purchase when approved.
- Keep sidewalks, parking areas and roadways throughout the facility clean and swept.
- Plow and shovel snow on roadways, driveways and sidewalks.
- Perform handyman tasks for residents.
- Complete work assigned on Daily Maintenance Work Order Forms.
- Complete work order forms with time and cost of supplies and return to office.
- Ensure proper removal of trash.
- Store chemicals, tools and equipment in a proper and safe manner.
- Refurbish living units for the next occupants (paint, repair holes in walls, etc.).
- Repair or replace damaged or broken fixtures or equipment.
- Inspect interiors and exteriors of the buildings for needed repairs.
- Change filters in HVAC equipment.
- Assist with setup and cleanup for special events.
- Function and operation of kitchen appliances, office equipment, maintenance equipment and grounds equipment, with ability to do minor repairs
- Understanding of and ability to repair minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical problems
- Proper care and maintenance of lawns, trees, shrubs and other plants
- Drywall repair and painting.
- OSHA-MSDS sheets and procedures
Maintenance Assistant Qualifications:
- Handyman skills
- Experience in maintenance or environmental services
- Experience in grounds maintenance (lawn and plant care)
- Enjoyment in working with older adults
- Lifting, pushing or pulling up to 80 lbs., using proper body mechanics or available equipment
- Bending, kneeling or climbing ladders to perform maintenance and housekeeping tasks
- Occasional weekend work for special events, snowstorms or maintenance emergencies
