Role Responsibilities
In the role of team member, assist with the day to day activities of the department by:
* Knowing the team goal, purpose and limits.

A. Supportive Services Functions:
Duties:
Perform day-to-day laundry functions and specific tasks as assigned and in accordance with established laundry procedures; weekly linen change and laundered -collect, sort and wash soiled linens, follow services purchased for collection sort and wash of personal laundry , in accordance with established procedures; sort, iron, fold, hang, stack and distribute clean laundry, linens, and garments to residents per the schedule; ensure that clean laundry, linens and garments are distributed to designated areas; clean, wash, sanitize, deodorize and disinfect all laundry items and areas including floors, walls, ceilings, equipment, filters, etc., using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions and procedures.
Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions and specific tasks as assigned; clean, wash, polish, sanitize, deodorize and disinfect all areas and items in the facility including furnishings, fixtures, trash bins, windows, mirrors, floors, carpets, walls, ceilings, bathrooms, etc., using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions and procedures.

B. Personal Care Functions
Duties:
Assist Residents with scheduled bath, dressing, grooming, dental care, bowel and bladder functions, preparation for medical tests and exams, ear and eye care and positioning in and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, etc. as reflected in service plan. Review and update service agreements and update manager with any changes. Record all necessary charting and report accidents and incidents. Assist in arranging for medical exams and transportation. Assist with monthly weight and blood pressure checks. Record in resident record and report any changes to the RN.

* Must be able to lift 50 from floor to waist, and carry/transfer up to 50 pounds in a horizontal direction frequently throughout the shift
* Must be able to attain and maintain a squat position frequently throughout the shift

C. Dietary Functions:
Duties:
Assist in the preparation, service and delivery of meals as noted on task list; know and use portion control procedures when preparing and serving meals; assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties including soiled items from carts and trays; place clean items in proper storage areas; assist to ensure that all meals are set up to completeness and accuracy of menu and personal preference; ensure proper storage of raw and leftover foods; obtain food supplies for next meal as noted on task list menu; organize and inventory foods in storage area, cooler and freezer as indicated on task list; perform all daily tasks in accordance with established Standard Precautions, sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures. Purchase food and dietary supplies as directed. Know and use proper disposal of food waste and garbage.

D. Activity Functions:
Duties:
Assist with identifying the spiritual, social, recreational and emotional needs of the residents through interviews, visits, and consultations with the resident and their families; work as team in developing activities for all residents. Assist with planning, developing, organizing, and implementing the activity programs of the facility; assist to plan and schedule movies, parties, games, projects, crafts, and field trips for residents. Assist to compile and maintain library services, tapes, records, and reading materials and assist and supervise residents with activities; Assist with coordinating the activities programs with the residents, their families, staff members, volunteers and community agencies through interviews, consultations and direct involvement in the programs. Prepare rooms, equipment, and supplies prior to each program, and clean up after each program. Transport residents to and from programs as needed. Follow established chain of command concerning department and facility business.

E. Medication Administration Functions:
Duties:
Provide oversight, supervision and administration of scheduled medications prescribed for routine administration according to established medication administration policies and procedures. Complies with the Resident Rights. Reports to licensed nurse. Obtains assignment and specific directions on assigned areas. Reports to nurse; any physical and emotional change in resident status immediately. Takes and records blood pressure and pulse as indicated by scheduled blood pressures/pulses and in conjunction with prescribed medication therapy. Reports to nurse any changes from prior readings. Follows directions given by nurse.
