Job Description


Position Summary:

The HVAC Test and Field Technician will work in the lab to conduct performance testing and sound testing on residential HVAC equipment, as well as provide Field Test support for Engineering Development Product launches. This individual shall be able to install HVAC equipment in the lab, troubleshoot, and service/monitor these units. As a field engineer, additional responsibilities include coordinating and scheduling field test installations, monitoring, recording data, and generating reports on field test units.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate assessment of field conditions, define monitoring criteria of the unit, and schedule installations to meet the needs of the project
  • Provide in house testing based on test requests, perform required testing, and create summary reports
  • Conduct Pyschrometric performance testing for Air-source heat pumps and Water-source heat pumps
  • Conduct NVH sound testing on Air-source heat pumps and Water-source heat pumps
  • Perform yearly assessment to maintain Intertek lab certification
  • Able to provide solutions when issues arise and maintain schedules
  • Shall demonstrate safe work practices
  • Able to troubleshoot issues with HVAC equipment during testing or installation of a unit in the field
  • Work directly with sales reps and contractors to coordinate field trial scope of work, date of install, and payment
  • Maintain electronic files of all field tests to keep all documentation current according to TT directives and procedures
  • Maintain lab calibration records and schedule yearly calibration on equipment
  • Travel Expectation: Willing to travel (20%) to visit field trial sites during development projects


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years of Field experience with installation and troubleshooting Residential HVAC systems
  • 3+ years of experience with HVAC product and application knowledge including both internal and external customer groups
  • 2+ years of MS Office experience, including Excel
  • 1+ years of lab testing experience from school or work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline
  • Knowledge in heat pump and air conditioning technologies as applied to Heat Pump and AC equipment and systems, electro-mechanical and direct digital control circuits, electrical circuits, blowers, and motors
  • Experience in Pyschrometric lab testing
  • Experience in NVH lab testing
  • EPA 608 Certification
  • Strong hands-on skills
  • Well-developed analytical skills
  • Highly developed planning and organizational skills together with the ability to effectively prioritize
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of personal integrity and honesty

  • High computer literacy
  • Ability to learn about new technology and adapt to new situations
