LIBERTY Dental Plan is seeking a Bilingual (Spanish) Community Engagement Specialist to support its growing member base.


**Must reside in the Las Vegas, NV area, with ability to travel locally**


This position is responsible for increasing member utilization by providing navigation assistance and education to the community, including educating existing and potential members on how to navigate LIBERTY programs. Position involves coordinating member outreach to ensure effective use of plan benefits and to improve member health outcomes within the Medicaid population. Responds to member inquiries in person, at assigned locations.


Job Summary Details:

  • Support the design, development, and deployment of community outreach initiatives to heighten awareness of benefits, increase utilization, facilitate benefit navigation, and educate community on importance of oral health and preventive services.
  • Assist in planning, coordination, and promotion of organizational presence at regional partner sites to distribute educational information and promote dental benefit access and utilization.
  • Engage meaningfully with members to aid in obtaining services (e.g., make appointments, arrange transportation, etc.) to avoid delays in treatment and improve member health outcomes.
  • Educate members on the importance of oral health, proper nutrition, preventive care, and the relationship between oral health and systemic/overall health.
  • Maintain knowledge of existing, traditional, and trending cultural approaches to health education and outreach.
  • Demonstrate multicultural sensitivity and effective communication, working with diverse and vulnerable populations in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Support special projects that relate to community education and outreach activities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+ years of related experience in community outreach and engagement
  • 1+ years of related experience in public health, health education, and/or dental healthcare
  • 1+ years of related experience working with Community Based Organizations, healthcare providers, and government agencies


Specific Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English. Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to appropriately interact and engage low-income and culturally diverse populations in public settings
  • Healthcare knowledge and/or knowledge of dental terminology
  • Ability to work independently in outreach environments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with the general public under adverse circumstances
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and initiate with passersby
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
  • Basic skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Must have and maintain a valid NV driver’s license and proof of insurance with minimum liability of $100,000 of coverage
  • Must have reliable transportation. Position requires travel by car, which may include nights and weekends for special events.
  • Ability to travel locally 75-100% of the time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.


COMPENSATION:

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the annual base salary for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at LIBERTY, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
