DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Business Strategy is a senior level position on a Financial Advisor / Private Wealth Advisor team who is responsible for shaping and enhancing a modern client experience by proactively cultivating and maintaining deep relationships with new and existing clients. This industry professional focuses on the development, implementation, and management of the team’s overall business processes to build longstanding client relationships, while achieving the team’s overall business strategy. This role may attend client meetings regularly with the Financial Advisor / Private Wealth Advisor to discuss current offerings, implement new services, and resolve any open issues.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Strategy & Oversight
    Provides leadership and coordination on strategic business planning and development goals and the implementation of these strategies
    Takes accountability for optimizing business practices, while adhering to best business ethics and practices
    Seeks opportunities to grow the team’s business by capitalizing on firm initiatives
    Develops investment recommendations in collaboration with the Financial Advisor / Private Wealth Advisor team and prepares reports and financial plans that align with clients’ goals
    Focuses on building strong relationships with corporate departments and strategic partners
    May utilize knowledge, experience, and expertise obtained through the CFP or CFA qualification process to lead a comprehensive discovery analysis that identifies differentiating information and variables to be used in the financial planning process
    May allocate work among a team of employees
Client Engagement
    Cultivates and enhances new and existing client relationships through active communication and problem resolution; this may include identifying new client needs and priorities and reviewing current investment goals
    Participates in quarterly/annual business performance reviews with clients to help optimize investment performance results
    Serves as client contact for administrative issues and fields general client questions on a broad spectrum of topics

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS:
Education and/or Experience
    10+ years of experience in a field relevant to the position require
    Advanced degree or professional certification or prior industry experience required
    Active Series 7 (GS) and Series 66 (AG/RA) or Series 63 (AG) and Series 65 (RA)
    If required, obtain, and maintain CFP or CFA designation
    Additional product licenses may be require
Knowledge/Skills
    Enjoys working with people and solving problems
    Financial industry and product knowledge
    Effective written and verbal communication skills
    Evidence of strong leadership skills or previous supervisory experience
    Strong understanding of applicable compliance rules and regulations and firm policies
    Team player with the ability to collaborate with others
    Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
    Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Reports to:
    Complex Business Service Officer and/or Business Service Officer

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $50,000.00 and $105,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
