Job Description

Are you looking for a leadership role where you can use your knowledge and experience of the developmental disabilities industry? This fulltime exempt position, located in West Tulsa with easy highway access, will lead the Programming Department of 85+ employees who provide residential services (HTS, DLS, IHSW) for adults with developmental disabilities in a five-county area. You will collaborate with administrative employees, State DDS employees, BDI clients and their parents/guardians. The Quality Assurance functions include monitoring and directing agency processes, survey audits and allegations of rights violations of Brighter Day clients.


Quality Assurance Functions:

  • Monitors internal data on State Department of Disability Services (DDS) and Federal contract compliance and program performance goals and outcomes for our developmentally disabled clients.
  • Collaboratively works with the Programming department staff to develop and implement program plans to effectively measure successes and areas of improvement.
  • Ensures compliance of all client Individual Plans (IP) including current Direct Care Staff training, documentation, health care needs and leisure activity plans.
  • Uses communication skills, both written and oral, to review or edit written documents such as Incident reports, company policies or procedures concerning clients’ residential care.

Program Director Functions:

  • Oversees Oklahoma Department of Human Services Department of Disability Services (OKDHS DDS) contracted services. Reviews information of potential new clients based on staffing availability, client openings and other factors.
  • Advocates for clients and/or assist PCs when serving as a Client Advocate.
  • Ensures all DDS client-related policies are met including Individual Plan (IP) and financial records, reporting deadlines, PC visitations and maintenance of clients’ homes.
  • Collaborates with Program Coordinators (PCs), House Managers and Human Resources to maintain appropriate staffing ratios and mileage based on DDS authorizations.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to hire and develop Programming department employees to provide quality services for our clients.
  • Supervises, coaches and evaluates Program Coordinators and their staff.
  • Uses interpersonal and problem solving skills to resolve employee relations matters by collaborating with HR as needed.
  • Oversees all programming department’s payroll, paid time off and mileage records for accuracy and meets time sensitive deadlines.
  • Serves on committees and/or project teams, as needed, to improve processes impacting the programming department and/or Brighter Day.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required as job duties demand to care for a client or QA duties.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director or CEO.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts and co-workers using appropriate customer service skills to achieve desired results.
  • Strong reading and comprehension skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must complete all BDI and DDS required training per Oklahoma DDS Policy 340:100-3-38.7 including health care coordinating, CPR/First Aid, Medical Administration Training (MAT), QA and other ongoing mandated training.
  • Ability to confidentially maintain private health information of all clients and other information obtained as a part of the duties.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, liability auto insurance and insurable driving record.


REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, education, psychology, sociology or related field required and/or full-time equivalent experience in serving people with developmental disabilities (4 years).
    • Desire to work with our DD clients and two years work experience in the developmental disabled field required.
    • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience preferred.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Must have strong organizational, problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Working ability to use basic mathematics, office filing systems, proper telephone etiquette and office procedures.
    • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office and web-based software such as email, Word, Excel, and Access required.
    • Working knowledge of quality assurance procedures preferred such as investigations, process improvement or related experience.
    • Ability to work independently and with others with good attendance. Working shifts in client homes may be required.
    • Must possess current drivers license with acceptable insurable driving record and safe reliable vehicle. MVR will be run as part of the background check.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, type and write. The employee may be required to lift, stand, sit, squat, bend at the waist and knees, and climb stairs at various homes of client locations. Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; speak; hear; and see. Must be able to independently pick up and transport objects weighing 25 lbs. on a regular basis and occasionally lift 50 pounds, as needed. Ability to lift, move or assist assigned clients* with or without the assistance of another staff member or mechanical device. *Clients’ weight varies depending on health condition, gender, etc. When working around clients, there is always the possibility of aggressive acts which training is required to work with the client/s.
