This role is hybrid working 1-2x per week out of one of our offices: Akron, OH, Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ, Newport Beach, CA or Seattle, WA.
Overview
Planet DDS provides SaaS and mobile products for dental offices and dental groups. The Senior DevOps Engineer will work to build systems to run our SaaS applications. They will increase the scalability, security, reliability, and operability of our product lines.

An engineer doesn’t shy away from learning something new or experimenting with technologies to find the right solution. Responsibilities & Duties
- Building and implementing new tools and infrastructure across any one of the 3 cloud providers
- Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying them to engineering teams
- Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
- Plan, Automate and Improve development and release processes
- Automate with tools to include AWS or GCP Automation, PowerShell, CLI, Bicep, Terraform, Bash (Linux), and others
- Working with software engineers and teams to produce reliable and robust processes
- Identifying technical problems and supporting software updates and fixes
- Proactively expose problems & risks and develop solutions
- Training & mentoring for peers and less experienced engineers
- Advocate for DevOps culture, automation, and architectural & security standards
- Optimize cost, performance, scalability, and reliability
- Security configuration & security hardening
- Provide on call support
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 7+ years in hands on technical roles (such as Cloud Engineer, DevOps engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer)
- 5+ years of cloud experience with at least 3 years with AWS or GCP
- 5+ years deploying and operating web apps.
- Strong IaC and CaC background
- Excellent Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows
- Strong Kubernetes & Containerization background supporting the adoption, build out, and maintenance in a production environment
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant major or equivalent years of experience
- Any of the following would be a plus:
- Background with multiple cloud providers
- Cloud Networking experience
- Experience with Linux, Helm, Python, ActiveMQ, Mongo, PostgreSQL
- Instrumenting Observability toolsets to support APM, Infrastructure and Logs visibility
- Software development experience
- Experience working in B2B SaaS companies
