Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Compliance Manager-Laboratory.
In this role, the successful candidate oversees the regulatory compliance program for Clinical and Anatomic Pathology laboratories at NYU Langone Health. Responsible for establishing a process to routinely monitor compliance with all regulatory agencies including (CAP, DOH, AABB, OSHA, EPA, FDNY, and Joint Commission), through assessments and audits. Responsible for ensuring all deficiencies have the appropriate plan of correction implemented and sustained. Ensures accreditations and licenses are maintained in good standing. Responsible for the Laboratory Safety Program and ensuring all labs are enrolled with the appropriate Proficiency Testing Programs. Works with staff, managers, and pathologists to maintain inspection-ready laboratories and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. System-wide campus coordination required.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Assists Quality & Regulatory Director to maintain regulatory compliance for all clinical laboratory areas within NYU Langone Health. Works with the Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Improvement Manager to ensure accreditation and compliance.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Independently oversees and develops program to monitor compliance with all regulatory and accreditation agencies regulations and standards. Prepares the laboratories for regulatory and accreditation agency inspections. Develops processes to audit compliance – Utilizes these processes to perform audits and documents improvements and follow up. Ensures sustained compliance with improvements. Assists external assessors to conduct inspections of the Pathology laboratories.
3. Procedure Development: Maintains contact with agencies and tracks laws and regulations that may affect the department’s policies. Develops and implements policies and procedures, with ongoing development/modification as needed as related to regulatory compliance, laboratory safety, and quality. Maintains relevant records consistent with regulatory standards.
4. Laboratory Safety: Demonstrates knowledge of safety within the Pathology laboratories including biological, chemical, and waste management. Ensures laboratories are in compliance with regulatory, department, and hospital standards. Tracks all employee injuries and reports in monthly QA meetings. Initiates improvement plans and indicated. Responsible for working with laboratory managers to ensure compliance and maintain the chemical hygiene plan. In conjunction with the Quality and Regulatory Director and Laboratory director implements, evaluates and audits the laboratory safety program as it pertains to procedures, policies, and training. (Included but not limited to: biosafety, chemical safety, fire safety, infection control, etc)
5. Staff Training: Ensures hospital laboratory staff has completed all relevant laboratory and safety training.
6. Assures effective communication within the department, lab leadership, management, staff, pathologists, physicians, and external departments and customers. Demonstrates professional image when dealing with customers.
7. Personnel related activities: Oversees supervision of staff. Interviews perspective employees, evaluates and documents staff performance and performs personnel counseling. Assigns responsibilities, establishes work hours, and monitors staffing.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,066.00 - $104,977.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
