Responsibilities

As a Chemical/Container Preparation Assistant you will enjoy working with a collaborative, high-energy, quality focused team. As a member of the Preparation & Processing Team you will support the clinical and development laboratories by:

  • Preparing reagents
  • Performing quality checks of laboratory water and containers
  • Performing pipette validation
  • Prioritizing, scheduling, and delivery of containers
  • Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware and equipment that are contaminated with biological waste
  • Picking-up and returning of processed items to laboratories using carts to move glassware throughout the building and to other locations on campus
  • Decontaminating biological waste for the department

Extensive, on-the-job training will be provided to you.

  • Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have one of the qualifications below,

  • Associate Degree


OR


  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of work experience including clinical laboratory and/or other relevant experience.


Additional Qualifications


  • You must include a cover letter, resume, and if you are an internal applicant, you must attach your three most recent performance appraisals to be considered for this position.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Business Administration is preferred.

  • Introductory college level Chemistry course or 6 months chemical preparation experience preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate with a team for problem resolution.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of quality and accuracy.

  • Comfortable working with chemicals and biohazardous materials

Compensation Detail

Required education, experience, tenure along with internal equity may be considered at the time an offer is extended. The pay range for this position is $18.14 - $24.67/ hour.
