Retail Cashier

Hicks Nurseries is the largest Garden Center on Long Island. We are seeking seasonal retail cashiers for all days and shifts. Come grow with us!

Essential Functions:

Provide customer checkout in a professional, efficient, accurate and secure manner using documented processes and procedures.

Greet/thank customers at the beginning and end of each transaction.

Explain our Gardener’s Advantage program if customers are not aware of it.

Ensure the security of your cash drawer by following all computer/cash register protocols.

Provide customer service by answering questions and directing customers.

Participate in product knowledge and other training.

Maintain a clean, tidy and organized workstation and Front-End area.

Position Requirements

Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Ability to stand, reach, bend

Comfort with handling money and electronic equipment (register, scanner)

Basic PC knowledge

Attention to detail and mathematical skills

Ability to communicate effectively in English – reading, orally, and in writing

Our Environment

Fast paced and team focused. Greenhouse location with fans and other cooling devices. The temperature in warm-weather seasons can be above 90 degrees at times.
