Job Description

MAPEI is currently hiring for a Buyer! The Buyer will compile information and records to properly prepare and execute purchase orders for procurement of material to support efficient operations.

  • Negotiate, administer, and review purchase contracts with vendors (price, schedule, quality, and terms) for products, materials, and/or services as directed by Corporate Purchasing.
  • Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers as directed by Corporate Purchasing.
  • Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials and suppliers from vendors as directed by Corporate Purchasing.
  • Compile records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries, and inventories.
  • Responds as required by QMS procedures for any non-compliance issues.
  • Confer with suppliers concerning quality, late deliveries, or other service issues. Use non-conformity reports and appropriate follow up to ensure effective solutions are established.
  • Purchases raw materials and packaging for distribution to other MAPEI facilities to support production.
  • Monitor and control inventory distribution for new product launches initiated in the plant.
  • Responsible for inventory replenishment from other MAPEI facilities and the purchasing of key raw materials/packaging to support other locations as well as own plant.
  • Develop sources and establish relationships with potential suppliers as directed by Corporate Purchasing.
  • Monitor quality and timeliness of purchased items to ensure they meet expected quality criteria.
  • Utilize AS400 Purchase Planning reports to facilitate ordering and delivery of materials.
  • Assure that required physical counts/measures and cycle counts are performed to ensure accurate data is available to make proper purchasing decisions.
  • Work with Unit Manager and other plant staff to maintain inventory system and to set and maintain proper Min/Max levels as directed by Corporate Purchasing.
  • Issue PO’s by entering PO’s into the AS400 system. Expedite orders when necessary. Track the receipt and vendor performance of these PO’s and send Terms and Conditions for purchased materials.
  • Maintain communications between suppliers and Corporate Purchasing and project managers.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as directed by Corporate Purchasing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University and two years relevant industry experience or, if no college degree, a minimum of five years related experience and/or training.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to multi-tasks.
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English is a plus.
  • The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment. Use Microsoft Office Suite software including Word, Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access as well as using the Internet
