Job Summary

Applications are invited for a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting or a non-tenure-track position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Business Law of the Soules College of Business at The University of Texas at Tyler with the earliest start date of September 2023. Rank of position is dependent on qualifications. Candidates with any teaching and research specialization are welcome to apply, but the ability to teach data analytics is strongly preferred. A professional designation, such as CPA, CMA, CIA or CFE, is a plus.


Essential Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, both face-to-face and online. The normal teaching load is nine credit hours per semester.
  • Collaborate with faculty in the development and improvement of curricula.
  • Continually learn and improve pedagogy to enhance student learning and retention.
  • Actively involved in service.
  • Research expectations are commensurate with those of the University's Carnegie R-2 classification and an AACSB- accredited business school.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree (Ph.D. or D.B.A.) in Accounting from an AACSB International, or commensurate, accredited institution. ABD, whose degree conferral is imminent, will be considered as well.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
