The University of Maryland School of Medicine - Office of student Affairs is seeking to fill a vacant
Coordinator position who will be responsible for working directly with Students, Alumni, Faculty, and senior Administration within the Office of Student Affairs to provide administrative and service request support. The Office of Student Affairs is a department that expects its staff to have strong IT and excellent customer service skills. This position will be expected to work daily with highly sensitive confidential data. The Office of Students Affairs expects the coordinator position to represent the organization favorably by utilizing sound judgement and critical thinking throughout all aspects of the job responsibilities. The coordinator position is responsible for multiple functions with in the Office of Student affairs, it is imperative that the candidate be well organized, efficient, and have the ability to multi-task with minimal oversight / supervision.
Student support needs and event support: Coordination of annual mask fit testing, processing degree verification request, and add/drop registration request processing. Student Leaders meeting coordination and support, student wellness breakfasts and other student needs. Position is also responsible for general student affairs service request processing. : Responsible for maintaining required building location access areas of each of the clerkships and providing that information as well as a copy of each of the students’ current course schedule to the UMMC Badge (Security) Office prior to the start of each academic year. Position is expected to utilize critical thinking to resolve UMMC builds access issues as they arise for students which may include direct interaction with the UMMS Badge (security) Office. This position is responsible for making any necessary revisions to these processes to not only increase the outcome quality but make them more efficient as well.

Primary Duties:
- Communications: responsibilities include answering phones, routing calls, monitoring office email, office FAQ’s pages (process documentation), providing support of office website, podcasts, as well as monthly newsletter. Track and monitor medical student compliance of required tasks of completion.
- Technical skills: should possess strong technical skills with the ability to use technology to increase efficiency in work responsibilities.
- Honor Society Support: Coordination and administrative support of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) and Gold Humanism Honor Societies and its activities. Includes coordination with national chapter, submission of candidates, coordination of local elections, etc.
- Appeals Committee: An Appeals Committee serves as a venue for students to have independent review of an academic grievance. Responsible for coordination of appeals meetings and preparation of materials and document packets. Facilitates communication between the Appeals Committee and the Dean’s office timely manner while ensuring confidentiality of related materials discussed to conform with UMB & SOM policies.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Business Management or related field.
Experience: Prior related administrative experience is preferred.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements.
Hiring Range: $47,000 - $56,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
